The Energy Auditing Process

reDefining Efficiency begins a home energy audit using advanced building science technology to assess a home’s unique energy usage.  An energy audit diagnoses where the home is leaking air to the outside; measures the efficiency of cooling and heating systems; determines the effectiveness of insulation, ducts, windows, and doors; and performs a combustion safety test.  All data associated with energy attributes of the home are measured and recorded.  Once diagnostic testing and data collection are completed, an energy model of the home is created to determine the most cost-effective solutions that improve the energy efficiency, comfort, health, and safety of the home.  If recommended measures are implemented by a home performance contractor, a follow up audit is performed to ensure that the work is done correctly and the desired results are achieved.
